St. Coletta's of Illinois Foundation provide support and funding for individuals with developmental disabilities of all ages from children to adults. We focus on three main programs; Education, Vocation, and Residential. Within these programs we incorporate social activities, specialized facilities, and constant care for the individuals we serve.
The Lt. Joseph P. Kennedy School for Exceptional Children is responsible for the Educational Program at St. Coletta's. Our students benefit from a low student to teacher ratio in a self-contained environment, giving them a better sense of comfort and security than school districts can offer. We focus on academic, pre-vocational and social success for our students, so that when they graduate they are prepared for their next step in life.
The Vocational Program is made up of many parts. We provide on-the-job training services, coaching through the application and resume process, and jobs within our program or in the community. The individuals in our Vocational Program come from both the community and the residential program, serving two hundred and thirty four adults with special needs.
Our Residential Program is made up of 26 group homes throughout the south and southwest suburbs of Chicago. Our people live together as a family with constant care on site. They understand the value of being part of the community and take pride in their homes. Our residents participate within the community taking part in local park districts social events, special recreation, and patronizing local banks, restaurants and other events within the area.
